SEC Considers Canton Coin as Digital Commodity
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Division of Corporation Finance has issued a no-action letter, stating that Canton Network's native token, Canton Coin (CC), is considered a digital commodity. Under certain conditions, the SEC will not recommend enforcement action regarding the programmatic issuance of CC. The division noted that CC is closely related to the programmatic operation of the Canton network, with its value derived from the network's operation and supply-demand dynamics, rather than the expectation of profits from the core management efforts of others, and that there is no centralized controlling entity for the network. Canton Network referenced the content of this no-action letter on the X platform.
