Tax Refunds on July 24 and 31, 2026: Beware of Scams
Tax refunds are scheduled for July 24 and July 31, 2026. Transfers will be made automatically to the accounts known to the tax administration, with the label "REMB IMPOT REVENUS" issued by "DGFIP FINANCES PUBLIQUES". No action is required from taxpayers if their bank details are already registered. However, Cybermalveillance.gouv.fr warns against frequent scams during this period. An increase in phishing campaigns has been observed, with fraudulent SMS targeting over 12 million households. Scammers send messages announcing a refund of a specific amount, such as 262 or 219 euros, and encourage recipients to click on a link to a fake site imitating impots.gouv.fr to enter personal information. The tax administration never requests this information via SMS, email, or phone, and does not charge fees for refunds. To protect themselves, it is advised not to click on suspicious links, to log in via the official address, and to check the sender's domain. In case of doubt, it is recommended to report the message via Signal Spam or 33700 for SMS, and to contact their bank.
